Tactical UsesEdit

Costing only as much mana as the speed-up spell, being the only spell in the game that can be used again as soon as it's finished being cast, on top of the fact that it is gained at level 4, makes this the most overpowered spell in Sacrifice, as well as representing the sheer resilience of Charnel's armies.

This is the spell that places Charnel on top or at least makes him the most balanced of all the gods. With all the mana you save from using this spell and the speed with which you can build back up a broken army (side bonus of keeping the heroes alive in the campaign) makes your armies more mobile than the armies of the other gods.

With this spell, you will be able to outlast your opponents if you cannot outnumber or outgun them (important in the campaign). This is usually how Charnel can take an advantage anyway since most of his attacks are poisonous and his creatures vampiric (the longer they're fighting, the more health and mana they steal) while any damage your opponent does is frustratingly negated by the cheap cost of Animate Dead.

Since it takes the same amount of time to "re-animate" any creature, it is advisable to bring back to life first the stronger and larger creatures (they will last longer anyway). Generally speaking, the more souls a corpse has, the higher priority they should have of re-animation.

Animate Dead is definitely the most cost-effective spell and is one of the major reasons to fight as Charnel. (Persephone's healing spells are more effective, but they cost much more; the scarabs, while nice, cost souls which could be used to fight instead.)

Forget even healing your creatures. Animate Dead costs the same amount (as basic heal) and does more, so Charnel's creatures not healing themselves is not even an issue, especially since they heal in battle anyway, which is more useful. In the middle of battle, it is better to bring back to life dead creatures than to heal damaged ones, since the cost and time spent are the same.
