Stratos 01

Stratos

"I am Stratos. God of Air and Supreme Lord of the Heavens. Bringer of Storms. Mover of the firmament. Ah, lets do be honest, shall we, in any halfway-civilized world, I would be the only god." – Stratos, The Gods Themselves (Intermission)

Stratos is the god of air. He rules the cold mountains of Empyrea. He values knowledge and cunningness. His followers are called Servants and his wizards are called Elementalists. His spellbook relies mostly on fast yet fragile creatures and powerful, low cooldown spells.

Stratos is highly intelligent and civilized. He believes himself to be better than the rest of the gods and wishes to rule the world alone.

THE BOOK OF STRATOS[]

"An excerpt from the Sacrifice Game Manual"

I am Stratos, God of Air and Supreme Lord of the Heavens. I am the bringer of storms. The mover of the firmament. Ah, let's do be honest, shall we? In any halfway-civilized world, I would be the only god.

My true form is too divine for mortal eyes to bear, but I find that lacking physical representation, I am too abstract for mortal comprehension. Some even have the temerity to believe me to be an unthinking elemental force. Au contraire. I am as cerebral as I am celestial. All of which I present as a simple explanation for the form in which you now observe me. Sleek, refined and dignified. A form nearly worthy of my perfection.

Speaking of which: It is not merely mastery of the heavens and all things godlike that lead me to this claim of superior divinity. (Although, if I may momentarily digress, I am master of the celestial and the elemental, the transcendental and the temporal, the meteorological and the epistemological, to name but a few of my areas of expertise.) No, such simple braggadocio does not speak to the quintessential nature of me. It is merely the plainest of facts that I am smarter, cleverer, and more insightful than all the other gods combined.

Look at my creations if you are in need of further evidence: Empyrea is, literally and figuratively, the loftiest of all realms. Its inhabitants more talented than any other’s. The great libraries that hold the chronicles of our time are to be found in Empyrea. (If I may be candid, I am not certain many of the other gods’ followers even know how to read.) Sacrosanct peaks onto which no mortal foot has tread: Also in Empyrea. (There are places in Dys where mortals do not go, to be sure, but it is for lack of interest, not ability.) From the fantastical to the fearsome, the elusive to the erudite, Empyrea—much as her lord—reigns supreme.

Trivia[]

Stratos is one of the last surviving gods in every campaign. He survives if Eldred chooses to serve him, and dies in every other god's ninth mission. In contrast, other gods may be slain as early as the sixth mission.

In every campaign, Stratos is the god who summons Marduk to the world. He plays the gods against each other, seeking to outlive them all.

He is voiced by Tim Curry.
