- "The Locust is a fragile creature that relies on staying out of the reach of its enemies to survive. It has a very effective attack that will drain enemies of their mana as well as their health." – Zyzyx, The Gods Themselves (Charnel)
Locusts are a species of low-intelligent insects. They were the first of Charnel's many creations. Out of Charnel's sources for his minions, locusts belong to the pestilent. They are descended from locusts once found in the fens of Abaddon in Stygia (known, as of late, as Crossroads of Abaddon).
Most of Locust's taunts comprise of unintelligible squeals.
Abilities and TacticsEdit
Special and Passive AbilitiesEdit
Passive Abilities: Replenishes life and mana when attacking, drains life and mana from targets.
Locust is a very useful creature in Charnel's array of creatures. One of the only Minions able to drain both health and mana at once.
In multiplayer, Locusts are very useful because they are available at Level 1. They are flying, drain mana and health and are a great early game unit. They are most useful against wizards, as their damage output isn't too impressive, and they are somewhat frail. Like other level 1 flyers, they are easily knocked out of the sky with a BA spell, though.
Early in a multiplayer game, where the opposing wizard's health and mana reserves are low, a mob of Locusts can be a serious problem. The opposing wizard will be severely hindered, wounded and unable to cast spells. Another reason this creature is useful in the early game is because the opposing wizard might not have many Manaliths constructed, and a bunch of Locusts will disrupt the already small mana flow.
An experienced Necromancer can attempt some risky strategies, such as sending a bunch of Locusts flying towards an enemy at the very beginning of game. This may be a valid option if the map you are playing on has a large number of starting souls.
