This is a Sacrifice Wiki specific page detailing the Map Standards for maps of missions in the campaign. See here for a list of all of the completed maps and also examples of adequately finished maps. See here for the list of unfinished maps. Every subsequently completed map should be added to the "complete" category and removed from the "incomplete".

To establish some consistency among the campaign maps, the following image standards should be used whenever possible. Do note that these standards were created for MS Paint and when using other programs for image editing the standards should be changed accordingly.

What to do?[]

Any registered user with Scapex access can do this. Simply open the map you wish to edit in Scapex, take a barren image of it from a bird's-eye view, analyze it sufficiently and then add the appropriate symbols accompanied by an explanatory text in an appropriate color. After that save the image and upload it on this wiki instead of the already existing image.

File[]

Maps should be image files in .jpg format exclusively, but are advised to be edited in what ever format suits best before being converted to .jpg. The size of the image should be as small as the map allows it, but of course there are no limitations and maps are allowed to be larger if need be. The quality of the map should never be sacrificed for reduced size. Do not be overly concerned with the description or the copyright. The staff on this wiki will handle it.

Font[]

Every text on the map should use the Arial font, written in 10pt size font and be bolded, unless specified differently (see here). The color depends on the feature the text is representing. The line connecting the text with the symbol representing the feature should share the text's color.

Map Title[]

The map title should use Times New Roman font, 24pt size font, be in white color, be put at the upper border of the image and centered. If the map does not allow for such placement, any of the upper corners will suffice.

The map title should consist of the island's name, followed by the capitalized first two letter of the name of the god for which the mission is being performed and a number representing the mission level placed in brackets.

Example: Crossroads of Abaddon (PE-7)

Colors & Symbols[]

The symbols should be put as close as possible on the features that they represent. The following symbols and colors for them should be used (the explanations are given below):

Colors[]

  • Eldred – Everything belonging to Eldred's side, including Eldred's starting position. He is not placed in Scapex, but usually appears next to his altar, although there are exceptions. His location should be checked in-game.
  • Friendly – Everything belonging to a side that has declared itself allied to Eldred's. In-game this is determined if the side shares mana income and if defensive spells can be cast on the side's creatures.
  • Neutral – Everything belonging to a side that has remained undeclared to Eldred's side. Can be checked in Scapex in "Sides Properties..." and "Edit Triggers..." if necessary.
  • Hostile – Everything belonging to a side that has declared itself enemy to Eldred's side.
  • Other – Anything that can't be put in the four mentioned categories. Usually blue souls and indestructible, static buildings belonging to side "Neutral (32)" with enough importance to be mentioned.
  • Dead – All dead creatures and razed buildings, regardless of the side they belong to.
  • Mission-Related – Everything that is directly related to the mission objectives (not Eldred's altar unless directly specified). Can be checked in "Edit Objectives..." in Scapex.
  • Background – Background of every map should be black for consistency's sake.

If a side declares itself differently to Eldred during the mission, the declaration with which the mission ends should be used.

If the mission can end with two different declarations of a side, the one with which the mission starts should be used.

Symbols[]

  • Important Creatures – Wizards, Heroes, a group of 10 or more creatures, rare creatures, creatures unusual for the mission or extremely strong for that stage of campaign. The text explaining the symbol should have 12pt size font.
  • Creatures – All other creatures that don't fit the above description.
  • Important Structures – Altars, rare or mission specific structures. The text explaining the symbol should have 12pt size font.
  • Structures – All other destroyable structures that don't fit the above description.
  • Mana founts – Only unoccupied mana founts.
  • Mission-Related – Everything that is directly related to the mission objectives. Only the outer frame should be colored and should fit the size of the symbol already used.
  • Rescuable – Marked with the appropriate color (usually blue or green), except the text explaining the symbol being italicized.
  • Guardianed – Marked with the appropriate color, except the text explaining the symbol being underlined. This can be checked under "Edit Triggers..." in Scapex.

If multiple creatures are found too close together the same symbol can represent them all, but they all have to be explained by the accompanying text linked to the symbol. If there is an "Important Creature" among them, the larger symbol should be used.

If there are multiple symbols that share the same content, they can both be linked to the same text explaining that content, to save space on the image.
